Access to The Village
Village of Shane Tarash is one of the northern villages of the country, located in the city of Tonekabon. To reach this village, you need to head toward Khoramabad in Tonekabon, then from Khoramabad Square continue in the direction of Ghaleh Gerdan until you reach the Do Hezar road.

Continuing along the Dohezar Road, we reach a forest road that is stunningly beautiful during the day but eerie and haunting at night. The forest road eventually leads to the Dohezar Pass, where on one side of the road lies a rocky cliff and on the other, a deep valley.

After driving for about 20 minutes at a speed of 60 km/h, you finally arrive at a village with breathtaking, jaw‑dropping scenery. Congratulations — you’ve reached Shāneh Tarāsh village.

History
Old village names today sometimes seem obsolete or difficult to understand, but with closer attention we realize that each old name is usually connected to its geographical and physical location. Regarding the village of Shaneh‑Tarash, it is said that its name is based on the beliefs and oral accounts of the villagers, passed down from generation to generation. The last group that settled in the village reportedly narrated this story from their elders.
According to this account, the final group of migrants came from the village of Karkabud in Taleqan and chose this forested area to continue their lives. In addition to animal husbandry, they began clearing and cultivating parts of the forest to make agriculture possible. Among them was a person who had a strong interest in crafting wooden combs. Using a type of high‑quality, flexible forest wood, he produced fine wooden combs; for this reason, the village became known as “Shaneh‑Tarash” (meaning “comb carver”). However, no written document has been officially recorded regarding the naming of the village.
