In line with the implementation of the ‘Participatory Conservation’ approach and with the aim of safeguarding natural areas, a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation was signed between the Governorate of Shaneh Tarash Village and the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department of Tonekabon County.
This Memorandum of Understanding has been developed with the aim of organizing, managing, and cooperatively utilizing the ecotourism route and forest recreational area of Shaneh Tarash Village. It emphasizes key areas including sustainable tourism, forest area conservation, natural resource management, principled guidance of tourists, reduction of vegetation destruction and soil erosion, and also strengthening the role of the local community in the conservation process.
Based on this Memorandum of Understanding, the implementation of the project will be carried out with the participation of the Natural Resources Department, the village Governorate, the local community, and the cooperative company. Officials assess this action as an effective step in developing rural tourism, creating economic opportunities for local residents, and achieving nature-centered management.
Furthermore, considering Shaneh Tarash Village’s position in preparing for international competitions, the implementation of this project can be presented nationally and internationally as a successful example of nature-based tourism and a model of local participation in conservation and sustainable utilization.
